An epoch-making artist!!! In Los Angeles, this four-time Global Music Award winner collaborated with Dionne Warwick's son and veteran music producer Damon Elliott. "Don't call me junior," Dondi's recently released third commercial album, features two of these soulful collaborations.
Dr. Carlton Lake of The Philadelphia Music Academy hired Dondi to perform with his world-famous boys choir when he was eight years old. With this party, he competed for the title of "World's Best Boys Choir" in England, Paris, and Wales. Later, he studied voice music, composition, and music theory at "Philadelphia High School for the Performing Arts." He was also a member of Philadelphia's All City Chorus at the time.
Dondi is a member of "The Recording Academy" and the longtime frontman for Philadelphia's premier horn trio, "JellyRoll." He has thrown his hat in the ring as a songwriter/producer of his own works after nineteen years at the helm of this highly sought after cover, and often original, twelve piece unit.
As a professional actor and vocalist, he has performed in venues ranging from Madison Square Garden to the White House. Dondi's stage presence is legendary in the Philadelphia area, and his ability to hold a large crowd in his palm is legendary. In 2018, he had the distinction of playing at the Pre-Grammy Soiree at B.B. Kings in New York City to honor Dionne Warwick!!!
Some of the songs you'll hear here have a distinct old school sound to them. This is his area of expertise. It's how he perceives things. He writes and performs his songs as if they were going to be performed by a live band tomorrow night at an intimate New York night club, since he is a live artist by nature and trade.
Solid melodies and powerful hooks come to him in all genres, but his true passion is old school R&B/Soul and Adult Contemporary music, as one of his songs "Diggin on R&B" mentions. Very approachable and laid-back, and always on the lookout for new ideas and directions. Despite the fact that he is a prolific songwriter and producer in his own right, Dondi enjoys working with other musicians and producers.
He's open to music placement, song licensing, and management arrangements, among other items. For the time being, the market decides where and when he will break, but his old school style will resurface sooner or later. This music will stand the test of time. He always says, "A good song is a good song." Dondi deserves a shout-out, and we wish him continued success and recognition!
